One of the challenges of AI video production is character consistency. Keeping the same character scene after scene can be difficult for many AI users.
However, with the right tool, creating a video (or even an entire series of episodes!) with a consistent character is a piece of cake!
Letβs see how!
All you need to do is open your Videotok account and select one of the following methods:
first method: AI video story (faster)
second method:start with the empty editor (more control)
Videotok Options
1. First method: create a full automated video
Step 1: create the character
click on "characters" button (on the left side of the platform)
click on "create new character"
add a character name (for instance, "Encgre")
add a character description or upload the character images
Videotok - Create new character
Description of the character we used to create the character in the video: "3d pixar style 3d cartoon, a girl like the movie enchant, she is from mexico, 12 years old, with glasses and colourful clothing"
click on "generate" and create your character (if you want to try again, just click on "create another"; I will select this because I'm happy with the result)

Now you have a character ready to be used in your video scenes!
Step 2: create a personal brand
A personal brand is essential for maintaining a consistent image and color palette across your videos and assets.
click on "personal brand"
click on "create new style"
add a style name (for instance, "pixar animation style, 3D cartoons")
upload the image of your character with the mail color palette
Videotok - Personal Brand Style generation
The AI now analyzes the images and generates a color palette to apply consistently across every scene and clip of the video.
Step 3: create the video
click on "home" and then on "AI video story"
Decribe the plot of the video
Description of the video plot we used to create the character in the video: a story short of a girl named Encgir that is in the forest while she discovers something amazing
click on the "aspect ratio" button (9:16 - 16:9)
select the character we created in Step 1 (in my case, Lola)
choose the style (in my case, Lola-Pixar)
choose the voice (in my case, Elli - English Voice)
click on "media style" button and choose between static images and Video scenes
Videotok - Automatic workflow for video creation
2. Second method: create a video starting with empty editor
click on "home"
click on "Start with an empty editor"
At this point, an empty editor will open. Navigate to the bottom left part of the editor and inside the chat we will start creating the first character image from which we will generate the additional images.
Step 1: create the character
click inside the chat
type the prompt/description of the image you want to create
Prompt/description of the first scene we used in the video: "3d pixar animation style, 3d cartoons, a girl from mexico, 12 years old, like movie enchant, she is in the forest and finds a puma"
select the aspect ration (for instance, 16:9)
choose if you want to change the default AI model
Videotok empty editor with the fist prompt
AI model used in the video: Nano banana pro π
Step 2: create a storyboards
If you like the first generated image you can go ahead. In case you don't like the result you can generate the image again to test other variations.
Nano Banan Banana first result
Once the initial image has been generated, we can proceed with creating the storyboard.
inside the chat, click on "storyboard"
click on "generate"
Videotok storyboard feature
The storyboard is a specific Videotok feature that will let you generate 5-6 different scenes from your image
Once the scenes have been automatically created by the platform, we can start moving the images into the editor. Arrange the images to create a cinematic sequence.
Videotok Storyboard
Step 3: animation of the scenes
select the scene to animate
choose the AI video model for animation (for instance, Hailuo-02 pro, Sora 2, Veo 3.1 or Kling 2.5 Turbo Pro)
enter the prompt/description for the movement you want to create (for instance, the girl and the puma are super surprised)
β» Cinematographic tip: insert more specific directions within the description.
For instance: "first cut: camera close up to the girl - second cut: camera close up to the puma". If you use this type of technique, remember to extend the scene duration from 6 secs to 10 secs.
If you want that a scene starts with an image and end with another, you just need to select the two images and click on "first-last frame"
Videotok First-Last frame
Step 4: extend scenes
One of the most extraordinary features of Videotok is "extract last frame".
With this feature, Videotok will allow you to start a new scene from the last frame of the previous clip to create fantastic narratives.
select a scene Inside the chat
select "extend video" and then "extract last frame"
add the prompt/description of the extended frame (for instance, "add coming soon end screen")
replace the image in the editor with the animation of the scenes
At this point you will have created your perfect story to be shared with your audience for both creative and advertising purposes.
FAQ on how to create consistent characters and scenes with AI
What is character consistency in AI video production?
Character consistency refers to maintaining the same visual appearance, style, and characteristics of a character across multiple scenes and videos. This includes keeping identical features like facial structure, clothing, coloring, and overall design throughout your AI-generated content, which is essential for creating professional narratives and series.
How can I create consistent AI characters using Videotok?
Videotok offers two main methods for creating consistent characters. The first is an automated AI Video Story workflow where you create a character profile, establish a personal brand style, and let the AI generate consistent scenes automatically. The second method uses the empty editor for manual control, where you create an initial character image and use the storyboard feature to generate 5-6 consistent scenes from that base image.
What is a personal brand style in Videotok and why is it important?
A personal brand style in Videotok is a feature that analyzes your character images to extract and save a consistent color palette. This palette is then automatically applied across all scenes and clips in your videos, ensuring visual consistency in colors, lighting, and overall aesthetic throughout your entire project or series.
What is the storyboard feature and how does it help with character consistency?
The storyboard feature is a Videotok tool that automatically generates 5-6 different scenes from a single character image. This ensures that your character maintains the same visual appearance across multiple scenes, making it easier to create cohesive narratives without manually recreating the character in each new scene.
Which AI models does Videotok support for video animation?
Videotok supports multiple advanced AI video models including Hailuo-02 pro, Sora 2, Veo 3.1, and Kling 2.5 Turbo Pro for animating scenes. For character generation, the platform recommends the Nano banana pro model, which provides high-quality 3D Pixar-style character renderings.
What is the "extract last frame" feature in Videotok?
The "extract last frame" feature allows you to start a new scene using the final frame from the previous clip. This creates seamless transitions and maintains perfect character consistency between scenes, making your narrative flow more naturally and professionally.
How detailed should my character description be when creating AI characters?
Character descriptions should be specific and detailed, including style references (e.g., "3D Pixar animation style"), age, physical characteristics, clothing, and any distinctive features like glasses or accessories. The more detailed your description, the more consistent and accurate your AI-generated character will be.
Can I create an entire video series with the same character using Videotok?
Yes, Videotok is specifically designed to maintain character consistency across multiple videos and even entire series. By saving your character profiles and personal brand styles, you can reuse them across different projects, ensuring your character looks identical in every episode or video you create.
What aspect ratios does Videotok support for AI video creation?
Videotok supports multiple aspect ratios including 9:16 (vertical format ideal for TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts) and 16:9 (horizontal format perfect for YouTube videos and traditional media). You can select your preferred aspect ratio at the beginning of your project.
How can I create better scene transitions in Videotok?
For better scene transitions, use specific cinematographic directions in your prompts such as "first cut: camera close up to the character" or "second cut: wide angle shot." You can also use the "first-last frame" feature to create smooth transitions between two specific images, and extend scene duration from 6 to 10 seconds for more complex sequences.
Do I need animation experience to create consistent AI video characters?
No, Videotok is designed for users without animation experience. The platform handles the technical aspects of character consistency automatically through its character creation system, personal brand styles, and storyboard features. Both the automated and manual workflows are accessible to beginners while offering advanced control for experienced creators.
What types of videos can I create with consistent AI characters?
You can create various content types including animated short stories, educational videos, marketing content, advertising campaigns, social media series, YouTube channels, explainer videos, and episodic content for platforms like TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts.
How long does it take to generate consistent character scenes in Videotok?
The time varies depending on your chosen method. The automated AI Video Story workflow can generate complete videos with consistent characters in minutes, while the manual empty editor method gives you more control and may take longer depending on how many scenes you create and customize.
